5 Things We’re Obsessed With at Epcot…and We Did Them All Yesterday

1. Living with the Land – This is my favorite ride at Epcot and Dan and the kids are more than willing to let me indulge every single time we go.  It’s also one we fast pass every time, even though it’s not usually necessary unless it’s really busy.  Like most people who frequent Epcot know, there’s not a lot of rides worth fast passing these days, at least when you make them last minute, but I have a feeling that’s about to change in the near future.  Living with the Land is an original ride to Epcot, but it has had a few changes over the years.  It was originally named Listen to the Land, it was also a cast member narrated boat ride.  In 1993, the name was changed to Living with the Land and in 2006, the ride began using the recorded narration heard today. If guests wish to have a more in-depth tour of the greenhouses, they can sign up for the Behind the Seeds Tour.

2. Flavored Refillable Popcorn – This one is a family obsession for sure!  Refillable popcorn buckets can be used at all four parks, however, Epcot is the only park to offer flavored popcorn.  For just $2.00, you can have your previously purchased bucket refilled with some of the most delicious flavored popcorn in Disney.  You can find the popcorn kiosk on the way to Journey into Imagination with Figment.  They have Cheddar, Buffalo Blue Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive, and if that isn’t enough yumminess for you, or you prefer something a little sweeter, then head over to the Canadian pavilion and fill up on their Maple popcorn, also for $2.00.

3.  Club Cool – What better way to wash down the popcorn than with Coca-Cola soft drinks from around the world?  On those hot Florida days, we like to head into Club Cool, formally known as Ice Station Cool, and put back some Kuat!, Inca Kola, or in my case, a few cups of Beverly.  Yes, I’m one of the few guests at Disney who truly likes the taste of Beverly.  The tasting area is self-serve, so guests can enjoy as many flavors as they wish, and best of all, it’s free.

4.  House Phones –  While number 4 isn’t an actual attraction and quite frankly the phones are probably not meant to be played with, my kids love to stop by and call each other at least once when we’re in the area.  The idea of phones hanging on a wall is just too much to pass up, nevermind that they can punch in the numbers and it’ll actually ring the other phone.  They like to pretend they’re back in the 80’s making telephone calls like Mum and Dad used to do when they were young.  They’re located inside near the quiet bathrooms, between Starbucks and Club Cool, and it’s a great place to cool off and rest up a bit, so that is why these house phones are one of our obsessions.

5.  Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival – This is the 26th year of the Flower and Garden Festival, which is pretty amazing when you think about it.  I think each one of us is obsessed with this festival between the gorgeous flowers everywhere and the delicious food kiosks how could we not be?  But that’s not the only reason we love it.  There are so many attractions and events to attend like the Garden Rock’s Concert Series, or the complimentary English Tea Garden Tour, and the Goodness Garden Butterly House.   Josiah’s always excited to see what the featured theme of the temporary playground will be each time, and this year it’s Bo Peep’s Training Ground.  The Flower and Garden Festive is definitely one of our favorites.

Honorable Mention – While this is not Epcot specific, Josiah’s all-time, biggest obsession is Eeyore and yesterday he found the biggest Eeyore yet, at the United Kingdom Pavilion.  There was no way we were going to be able to leave without bringing one home to add to his collection.

There was a lot of pleading and begging and in the end, Big Eeyore followed us home.  The biggest condition made was that Josiah had to carry Eeyore for the rest of the day and he promised he absolutely would and he did…

until halfway to the France Pavilion, where, surprise surprise, I took over so Josiah could eat more Maple Popcorn.

Hahahaha! Love the look on your face after you got stuck with gigantic Eeyore – too funny! This is a great blog, and I love the pics of the kids enjoying their experiences, and the popcorn. Love Josiah’s face with the new Eeyore too!
