Laissez les bons temps rouler at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter while you surround yourself in the lacy wrought iron details, Magnolia trees, and splashes of Mardi Gras.  Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is considered one of Disney’s moderate resorts.  It is more intimate than the other moderate resorts with only 1008 rooms, located in 7 buildings, which makes it a popular choice amongst guests. Room rates start at $206 per night, excluding tax, and sleep up to 4 people, 5 if you have a child under the age of 3.  The standard rooms are 314 sq. feet with two queen size beds.

As you walk through the doors you are greeted by a beautiful water fountain filled with Doubloons.  Registration Guest Services, Jackson Square, and the arcade are to the right, and Scat Cat’s Club and Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory to the left.

Doubloon Lagoon is bright and with the Carnival theme of Mardi Gras complete with a giant Jester as you walk into the pool area.  You’ll find more of the Jazz-playing alligators next to the pool, along with King Neptune riding a sea serpent, and an adjoining Kiddie Pool. You can slide down the serpent’s tongue which happens to be a 95-foot water slide.  There’s also a large Water Play Area that boasts one of the best child-size water slides at any Disney resort splash pad, for those kids who are 48″ and under.  You can find complementary towels and many lounge chairs by the pool.

Behind the pool is the Sassagoula River, where the docks for the boats to Riverside and Disney Springs are located, along with the running path.  It was great to unwind as the boat carried us to the sister resort, Riverside.

Painting on De Bayou is a unique and creative paint class located in Scat Cat’s Club every Wednesday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  It is instructor-led and costs $35.00 per person.  Registration is limited to 16 guests per week, so be sure to call and reserve a spot.

Overall Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is a combination of beauty and fun.  While it is a moderate resort, it does have a deluxe feel to it.  The architecture and landscaping whisk you away New Orleans French Quarter with the wrought iron and mansard roofs, and the bright, fun colors of Mardi Gras.
