Sweet & Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich with House-made Chips

The Sweet & Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich has been a staple on Sleepy Hollow’s menu for a while now, with a short disappearance in early 2016. When it returned a few months later it was smaller, more expensive, and didn’t have the arugula. Today, it is still doesn’t have the arugula, and it’s still more expensive, however, the second piece of chicken is back.

The crispy, battered chicken was very tender and juicy and I was surprised by the spicy kick it had. I know it says spicy in the name, but often I find that doesn’t translate to taste. However, the heat is tamed by the contrasting sweetness of the syrup and the creaminess of the coleslaw. The freshly-made waffle really pulls the sandwich together. You can see the cast members making the waffles in the background when you place your order.

Keep in mind that this is a sandwich, and forks and knives have no place anywhere near this dish. Unfortunately, it’s a mistake we made and we ended up with a mushy waffle that was stuck to the paper. If you pick it up like the sandwich it is, you will be fine.

One of the best features of Sleepy Hollow is that you have a beautiful view of Cinderella’s Castle. Plus if you time it right you can watch Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, albeit by the backside, but still…pretty cool!
