Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Preview
Warning !!! While I didn’t get pictures of everything, I did get enough that if you want to be surprised, it’s probably better to not go any further.
Today Dan and I went for a preview of Galaxy’s Edge and it was incredible! They nailed it down to every last detail. The cast members stay in character the whole time and greet the guests with, “Bright Suns” and referred to us as travelers as if we were really visiting a different planet. Also since they get to pick and choose their costumes, they were all dressed differently which created a sense of visiting an actual place, and not just cookie-cutter outfits.
The land itself was just amazing between the landscape and the buildings, and all the props – just fantastic.
We bumped into a few characters along the way, which was fun. Chewbacca was just walking through The Market by himself. I’m assuming he was on his way somewhere, maybe? I don’t know if this will be something that actually happens when it opens or not, as we did see him a little later doing a meet and greet around the corner. However, there were Stormtroopers roaming around freely and interacting with guests… er travelers.
Galaxy’s Edge offers multiple spots to get food and refreshments. In The Market, they have Kat Saka’s Kettle, Ronto Roasters, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. We tried the Ronto Morning Wrap which was delicious. It was a sausage, wrapped in an omelet style egg, wrapped in flatbread, with melted cheese and a tangy cream style sauce. I plan on getting it again when Galaxy’s Edge officially opens.
We also tried the Outpost popcorn from Kat Saka’s Kettle. It’s a strange flavor combination but in a good way. The purple popcorn had what I think is a blueberry or grape flavor and the red had a spiciness to it. I’ve read that some say it’s cinnamon, but I thought it tasted more fruity and spicey – not redhot spicy.
We didn’t eat anything at Docking Bay but we stopped by to take a look. It smelled great when we walked in and I had wished we weren’t so full at that point.
Over at the Black Spire Outpost is where Oga’s Cantina and Milk Stand are located. We had reservations at Oga’s Cantina first and then we stopped by the Milk Stand on our way out.
The atmosphere at Oga’s was great. Again, the cast members stayed in character the whole time. The music was mostly similar to the original cantina music with a twist of a modern beat. The drinks were very fruity, as was the Mustafarian Lava Roll that we tried. The roll was a danish surrounded by a raspberry sauce and topped oreo cookie crumbles on top, and then a lemon powder on top of the crumbles.
We tried the Blue Bantha, a Fuzzy Tauntaun, The Outer Rim, and a Gamorrean Ale.
And of course, we went on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run which is the main attraction. To me, it was like Star Tours on steroids. We were engineers and it was a lot of fun. The theming in the cue was just amazing and unbelievable.
Last, but not least, there’s a lot of Galaxy’s Edge merchandise to buy. And while the shops in both The Market and in the Black Spire have many interesting and unique things to buy, they’re also an attraction in of themselves.
Even more pictures!
Wow – great job with all those pics! Of course, I always gravitate toward the food – the Ronto Morning Wrap is at the top of my list! Looks yummy!
