The Driving Force of All Nature…

We drink a lot of water in our family.  Until lately, it was all bottled.  We were tossing hundreds of bottles of water out every month.  Even though we are strict about recycling I still felt guilty seeing all the empty bottles out by the curb every week.  If that wasn’t bad enough, we were spending a small fortune on water!

One day I came across findaspring.com and out of curiosity I checked out the map and found a free spring, Mt. Blue Spring, in Hingham MA.  It’s about 15 mins from where we live.  It is pre-filtered and flows freely from taps that are located in a shed.  It’s natural, healthy and absolutely delicious!

We take some time every Saturday to go fill up our big bottles of water.  It’s become a family event and the kids really enjoy being a part of the process.  They’re very helpful!   I like that we’re getting our water from a natural source and we’re being environmentally responsible – which is something we could all be more conscious about.

Outside the filling shed is a sign that tells everyone to please protect the drinking water.  It really got me thinking when I read it.  What a wonderful thing we’ve found.  We’re so use to paying for water, whether we buy it from the local government or from one of the many stores.  In fact, during the 1800’s, water from Mt. Blue Spring was commercially bottled and sold but now it’s completely free.  There’s just something about going and collecting our water from a natural source that really does make me want to protect it.
